EarthShip - Taos NM

On a road trip to Taos, New Mexico, we exited Highway 285 diagonally onto Highway 64. On a high plateau north of Taos, otherworldly shapes began to rise from the high desert landscape to the east. We blew right past the gate of a fantastic community and had to backtrack out of curiosity, spending the better part of an hour touring environmental-friendly, self-sufficient, homes built from old tires rammed with dirt, then decorated with glass bottle and metal soda can ends. With such flexible building material, any shape imaginable is possible!
